FUJIFILM (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd today released the FUJIFILM X-T3, the latest model in the X Series of mirrorless digital cameras, which is renowned for its unique colour reproduction technology to deliver outstanding image quality in both stills and video.

The X Series began with the release of X100 2011 and the X-Prol, released in 2012, became the first model to feature the X-Trans CMOS sensor, which uses a unique colour filter array based on FUJIFILM’s extensive photographic expertise to achieve exceptional image-resolving performance and control of false colours at the same time, as well as the EXR Professor Pro image processing engine compatible with the sensor.

“For seven years, the X Series and its sensor – image processing engine combination have continued to evolve, with the company unveiling “X-Trans CMOS II” / “EXR Processor Pro II” in the X-T1, released in 2014, and “X-Trans CMOS III” / “X-Processor Pro” in the X-Pro2 and X-T2, released in 2016. The three generations of evolution have constantly advanced the X Series’ image quality and mobility,” said Fumiaki Sato, Managing Director of Fujifilm (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd.

The latest model, X-T3, features the new X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor and X-Processor 4 image processing engine, ushering in a new, fourth generation of the X Series.

The X-Trans CMOS 4 is the back-illuminated APS-C sensor with more than four times the number of phase detection pixels than current models, distributed across the surface. It boasts a high S/N ratio and the lowest sensitivity of ISO160 despite its 26MP resolution. The low-light autofocus limit has also been extended to -3EV, enabling accurate AF even in low light conditions, e.g. scene lit only with candlelight.

The X Processor 4 has four CPU units to achieve image processing speed about three times faster than that of current models. “Not only boosting AF accuracy and speed substantially, the engine is the world’s first to deliver 4K/60P 10bit output, meeting the needs of professional videographers, in a mirrorless camera equipped with a sensor in the APS-C size or larger.

“It is also capable of instantaneously handling complex image processing tasks such as FUJIFILM’s unique “Colour Chrome Effect” and “Monochrome Adjustment” function, achieving Warm Black / Cool Black tone in digital, which is adopted as one of the way of expression for monochrome print in silver halide film,” added Sato.

The X-T3 takes full advantage of the capability of these fourth-generation devices to enjoy significant performance improvement, including:

  • Higher image quality: Highest level of 26.1MP resolution in APS-C size sensor. Also, it achieves keeps as low level of noise as current models even increasing the number of pixels.
  • Dramatically improved AF performance: 1.5 times faster processing speed than current models to deliver faster and more accurate AF, and substantially enhanced performance in face / eye detection AF thanks to 2.16M phase detection pixels arrayed at entire frame.
  • Significant improvement in tracking performance of fast-moving subject: Delivering blackout-free continuous shooting of up to 30 fps while using smooth Live View of 60fps to check your subject.
  • Video performance for professionals: Supporting 4K/60P 4:2:0 10bit internal SD card recording as well as 4K/60P 4:2:2 10bit HDMI output, which can be filmed at the same time. Also, featuring the video-specialised Film Simulation mode “ETERNA,” popular with the X-H1.

  • Multi-functional, integrated public spaces redesigned with new restaurant, bar and library
  • New garden wing guestrooms added to now offer 451 rooms in total
  • New look celebrates Malaysian artist and artwork
  • More comfort and convenience for transit travellers at unbeatable prices

Located a stone’s throw away from one of the busiest airport hubs in the world, Tune Hotel klia2 has recently unveiled a redesigned buzzy new space to serve its guests and transit travellers better.

Working with two Malaysian interior design firms: All That Is Solid to design a new restaurant and bar; and Tropical Area to design the lobby, courtyard and 16 new guestrooms: the result of which is a balance of functional chic and eclectic cool.

Indoor-outdoor restaurant, bar and courtyard area

MAKAN the new restaurant, which means “to eat”, in Malay, is an airy, relaxed space that feels very much like a modern-day cafe. Mature plants form breakout green spaces in Makan, framing long communal tables with ample plug points, making it an ideal space to recharge and refuel from a long flight. Free high-speed WiFi makes it easy for the digital natives to plug-in anywhere on the property.

If Makan is the relaxed cafe space, then Minum, their bar – is the naughty little sister. Designed to evoke the back-street watering holes of Malaysia, complete with blinking neon sign, pool tables and folded chairs. Tune Hotels tapped graphic studio Miracle Watts to design the brand identity for Makan and Minum, resulting in a beautiful ying-and-yang of modern lightness and throwback edginess.

Multifunctional lobby space

For the lobby and new guest rooms, Tropical Area, fresh off their success of The Ritz-Carlton Langkawi, decided to soften the signature Tune black and red with a muted earthy palette of Corten steel, timber and rugs. Recognising that the last thing travellers want at a transit hotel is a soul-less welcome, the move was a deliberate design decision to make the huge lobby space cosier and warmer. A bespoke Grab N’ Go is introduced with a small selection of travelling necessities, drinks and snacks, and to the right of the lobby, a small open space ‘library’ or meeting room was built for business travellers to be able to meet on-the-go in the privacy of a convertible meeting space. These new additions to the lobby space are a nod at the growing trends of integrated lobby spaces in hospitality, where lobbies are no longer just transient spaces, but design-led amenities that encourage guests to work or play in.

New Garden Wing Rooms designed for the transit traveller

The 16 new Garden Wing guestrooms also signal how Tune Hotels is evolving with the hospitality design trends. As an airport transit hotel, the room is intuitively designed for short-stay guests: open style “wardrobe”, a minimal colour palette of black and white, and a Smart TV that enables personal device casting. The vanity and sink have hooks and large counter space for a traveller’s toiletries, and the signature Tune power shower is now housed in a modern wired glass bathroom. A nice addition of curated toiletries – a collaboration with local apothecary Jeanie Botanicals – and the same 5-star beds Tune Hotels are known for make the new garden wing rooms a very comfortable stay. At 16 – 19 sqm, Tune Hotels has done away with the traditional desk and chair, but with their public spaces revamped and redesigned, it’s a lot more fun to head downstairs, have a barista-made coffee and work at the restaurant or lobby.

Artwork with a sense of place

Tune Hotels also commissioned new artworks at the airport transit hotel, working closely with Malaysian artist Marvin Chan to create site-specific pieces. Particularly inspired is Marvin’s decision to use discarded plane parts to create two sculptures in the hotel: Stingray, a ceiling mounted piece was created from an assemblage of aircraft antennas; and Sonic Boom, the second sculpture in the courtyard of the hotel which was created from old turbine blades.

“The sculptures were assembled from repurposed plane parts, reassigned from its preceding function; it frames what I can appreciate as how travel can change someone or at least how someone sees things,” said Marvin.

All about guest experience

Tune Hotels klia2 started operating in May 2014 when the klia2 terminal opened. Says Mark Lankester, CEO of Tune Hotels, “Part of our investment in the upgrading was specifically to cater to guest needs and that involved new room types and configurations. So now we have Double Rooms, Twin Rooms, Family Rooms, new Premium Wing Rooms and the newly created Garden Wing Rooms.

“Whilst the design and space may vary, all of these rooms come with what are non-negotiable standards: high-speed WiFi to stream content or catch up on emails, five-star quality beds, hot power showers, great food and beverage, all wrapped up with great guest service.

“Guest experience is at the forefront of what we do and in particular, we will continue to focus on creating new and improved public spaces to allow guests to rest, relax and lounge around more and where possible new guest room design improvements going forward. With the learnings from our klia2 hotel, we can then translate that into similar improvements at our other Tune hotels. Comfort and convenience for all our guests is paramount.”

Exploring Kuching with Hilton: A Once-In-A-Lifetime Experience with Nature

Hilton Kuching

A land rich with culture and history, Kuching is an alluring enigma to locals and tourists. The capital city of Sarawak is one of two states situated on the island of Borneo, renowned globally for its natural beauty. The fairly populous city, although modern, is uniquely diverse with interesting heritage of its indigenous people (each with its own practices, language, food, and traditions) that are not found in other parts of Malaysia.

Fondly referred to as Cat City by locals, and for good reason. Yet, the drawing factors to visit the largest city in Borneo extend far beyond its feline features; chiefly among them is its range of once-in-a-lifetime experiences. With Hilton, your travel stories are about to get a whole lot better. Here’s why:

A visitor hands a banana to an orangutan at Tanjung Harapan, located inside Tanjung Puting National Park on the island of Borneo in Kalimantan, Indonesia. (March 2017)

Monkey business at Semenggoh Orangutan Sanctuary

With their uncanny human-like disposition and ability to learn sign language, orangutans, considered one of the world’s smartest primates are predominantly native to the island of Borneo. Recent years saw the disastrous decline of the species due to massive deforestation.

Visiting an orangutan sanctuary not only affords you with an unforgettable time in Kuching, but also a chance to support the conservation efforts to protect one of Earth’s most intelligent residents.

Located just 12 miles from Kuching, Semenggoh Orangutan Sanctuary is the best place to get up close and personal with the creatures. Unlike zoos, the primary mission of Semenggoh is to reintroduce orangutans back into the wild. The gangly animals are allowed to roam freely while visitors are given the opportunity to join a group and hire a ranger for a forest tour during the daily feeding times (twice a day) for a chance to spot the shy primates.

Sunset along the river in Kuching

Cruise along the Sarawak River in a sampan

For travellers who are lovers of nature or have a few hours to spare in between business meetings, hiring a sampan to meander down the Sarawak River just before sunset is the best introduction to the urban city. Set against a backdrop of distant mountains, you will come across picturesque Malay kampong-s (villages), a golden-domed mosque, a Victorian fort, a fleet of 19th century Chinese shop houses, and an imposing wooden-roofed palace.

Pay a visit to the city’s namesake, The Cat Museum

Etymologically speaking, the word kucing means cat in Bahasa Malaysia, the national language, which explains where the city’s cat obsession stems from. Housed in the North Kuching City Hall, the Cat Museum is the place to visit to learn all about felines and their history, as well as relationship, with this city.

As visitors will soon observe, references to the sometimes-aloof animal are ubiquitous – the city’s crest is of a pair of justice scales and a golden cat with four white cats flanking the bottom, there is a learning institution named I-CATS (International College of Advanced Technology Sarawak), and the city’s local radio station called Cats FM.

To round up your purr-fect day out, drop in to Meow Meow Cat Café, just a few doors away from the Cat Museum for a cuppa’ and a chance to cuddle the lovable felines.

“Government building at sunset in Kuching. Borneo, Malaysia.More images of same photographer in lightbox:”

Take in the spectacular view of the Kuching Waterfront from the comfort of your room

Hilton Kuching is a mere 20 minutes’ drive from the airport, and is where all Kuching journeys should begin. Strategically located facing the tepid Sarawak River, the hotel’s floor-to-ceiling windows ensure guests can partake the calm cityscape within the lovely confines of their room. Famed for its hospitality, each stylish room features modern amenities including high-speed internet access, an LCD TV, and even special touches such as an indulgent pillow menu and Japanese cotton kimono for its Suites and Executive Rooms respectively.

Room prices start from USD66nett per night.

If you like to participate in any of the memorable activities listed, simply call ‘0’ for MAGIC (a one-touch button to whatever you need) and share your request with Hilton’s lovely personnel, or speak to anyone from the front desk, who are ever ready to assist you with any arrangements you might need.

Sony Expands Full-Frame Lens Line-up with launch of 24mm F1.4 G Master™ Prime

New Large Aperture Wide-Angle Prime Lens is the compact and lightest in its class[i], with superb sharpness even at F1.4

Sony enhanced its flagship full-frame G Master series lenses line-up with the launch of the highly anticipated 24mm F1.4 Prime lens. Expertly engineered for exceptional performance across all aperture settings, the new FE 24mm F1.4 GM (model SEL24F14GM) utilises Sony’s advanced optical technologies to satisfy the demands of photographers. It features a compact and lightweight design with a filter diameter of φ67mm and measures just 75.4mm x 92.4mm and weighs a mere 445g. Meeting the strict standards set for G Master lenses, the FE 24mm F1.4 GM combines high resolution and beautiful bokeh, both of which are redeeming features of G Master.

This incredible high image quality and compact lens perfectly complements Sony’s APS-C sensor mirrorless cameras such as α6500 and α6300 and brings the total number of native Sony α E-mount lenses to 48[i]. Sony will continue to evolve its lens line-up in order to meet the demands of all types of photographers, videographers and multi-media creators, with a range of different offerings to maximise the power of the innovative α™ camera series.

Capturing details in high resolution across the entire frame, even at F1.4, the FE 24mm F1.4 GM boasts a new optical design comprising 10 groups with 13 elements featuring two XA (extreme aspherical) elements and three ED (Extra-low Dispersion) elements. The incorporation of two XA elements effectively suppresses sagittal flare[ii] so that point light sources are accurately reproduced, making the FE 24mm F1.4 GM a compelling proposition for starscape photographers. Sony’s unique Nano AR Coating is applied to reduce flare and ghosting for impressive clarity, even in landscape shots where the position of the sun is often problematic with a normal lens.

This industry-leading performance is packaged in an extremely compact and lightweight body weighing just 445g. For landscape photographers who often have to walk for long distances to get to the perfect shooting spot, this provides a welcome reduction in the weight that they have carry, an advantage that is further compounded when the FE 24mm F1.4 GM is paired with one of Sony’s award winning α7 / α9 bodies. This lightweight package has been realised in part by the development of a new high power DDSSM (Direct Drive SSM) which delivers approximately three times greater thrust than the previous DDSSM, enabling fast response, high positioning accuracy and quiet operation for both stills and movie shooting.

In addition to its landscape and starscape shooting abilities, the FE 24mm F1.4 GM also has excellent close up performance of 0.24 metres (0.79ft.). As a member of Sony’s flagship G Master lens series, the new lens features an incredible level of resolution and soft, natural bokeh. As bokeh quality is directly affected by spherical aberration and axial and lateral chromatic aberration that can also cause colour bleeding, all of these factors are painstakingly controlled at the design and manufacturing stages to achieve maximum image quality.

Furthermore, the FE 24mm F1.4 GM includes a number of professional controls that bring ease of operation for both stills and movie shooting. An aperture ring allows direct, intuitive aperture control whilst an aperture click switch makes it possible to enable or disable click stops as required. The focus ring features Linear Response MF for fine, responsive manual focus control, giving the user the control immediacy needed for fast, accurate manual focusing. The focus hold button is customisable and a focus mode switch makes it possible to quickly select auto or manual focus to match changing shooting conditions.

The FE 24mm F1.4 GM will be available in Malaysia in mid of October 2018. The product feature video can be viewed on the Sony Camera Channel on YouTube.

For more information on the new FE 24mm F1.4 GM lens, please visit its product homepage on here.

LG Delivers Ultimate Five-Camera Smartphone With LG V40 ThinQ

LG Electronics (LG) unveiled its newest premium smartphone featuring a total of five cameras to redefine the standard of smartphone photography. The latest iteration of the company’s acclaimed V series, the LG V40 ThinQ is an uncompromising multimedia powerhouse device designed for today’s generation of storytellers that prefer to communicate with visuals and videos, especially on social media.

The LG V40 ThinQ retains the V series design philosophy with an improved 6.4-inch FullVision OLED display and even slimmer bezels than before. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon™ 845 Mobile Platform paired with 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of internal storage, the LG V40 ThinQ again delivers the innovations that has made the LG V series a favorite among power users.

To deliver a standout smartphone for today’s content-creating social generation, LG designed the LG V40 ThinQ from the ground up to deliver a truly all-encompassing smartphone camera experience. The LG V40 ThinQ features a rear camera module with three different lenses: 16MP super wide-angle, 12MP standard angle and 12MP telephoto. The three lenses allow for shutterbugs to frame different shots without changing position relative to the subject. The 107-degree super wide-angle lens captures subjects with more of the background with ease, while the telephoto with 2x optical zoom (or 3.2x the zoom of the wide-angle lens) takes clear shots from distance without a loss in image quality. The Triple Shot feature stitches together the images captured with each of the three lenses into a short video file for easy sharing.

The front camera module features a 5MP wide-angle lens and 8MP standard angle that work in tandem to create the perfect bokeh effect with an on-screen slider to adjust the amount of background blur. Other features allow selfie lovers to personalize their photos even more with unique lighting and special effects.

The pixel size of the main rear camera sensor has been improved by about 40 percent compared to the LG V30, increasing from 1μm to 1.4μm, while the image sensor is more than 18 percent larger than in the LG V30. In addition to delivering the sharpest and brightest images of any LG smartphone camera, the F1.5 aperture of the main camera delivers greater depth of field, half the shutter lag and significantly faster burst mode compared to the LG V30.

What’s more, Dual PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus) delivers automatic focusing that is 50 percent faster, about twice as fast as the industry average. The advanced HDR feature analyzes and determines the right exposure settings to create perfectly lit shots, eliminating overexposed backgrounds or underexposed subjects. Subjects are always in perfect focus because the camera checks sharpness continuously until the shutter button is depressed.

LG upgraded the camera in the LG V40 ThinQ to be even more powerful and intuitive than ever to deliver the best color, composition, white balance and shutter speed. The AI CAM’s new AI Composition feature taps into the phone’s intelligence to frame, capture and recommend an alternative shot to the one taken by the user. AI Auto White Balance (AI AWB) automatically adjusts the color temperature across different lighting situations while AI Shutter selects the right shutter speed, especially useful when trying to capture fast-moving subjects.

Other new features such as Cine Shot, 3D Light Effect, Makeup Pro, Custom Backdrop, My Avatar and AR Emoji make photography on the LG V40 ThinQ a whole new experience. Cine Shot makes creating cinemagraphs – images with animation – incredibly easy and fun. Simply shoot a short video with any of the phone’s three rear cameras and “paint” the area to be animated with a finger and the result will be sure to amaze. 3D Light Effect changes the tone of a photo with professional-looking lighting, touch up any selfie with different looks using Makeup Pro or entirely change the background of a selfie with Custom Backdrop. For those who love all things augmented reality, create and share personalized emojis with My Avatar and AR Emoji using one’s own face or one of the provided characters.

The LG V40 ThinQ sports a new and improved 6.4-inch QHD+ (3120 x 1440) OLED FullVision display and a bottom bezel that is 1.6mm thinner than its predecessor. The new plastic OLED display is designed to deliver more accurate colors and better luminance consistency. The 4.5 million
pixels delivered by the OLED display is the most of any QHD+ smartphone on the market today and allows for the enjoyment of immersive, vivid and vibrant content that only an LG OLED display can deliver.

LG has always prioritized high fidelity audio in its smartphones and the LG V40 ThinQ is no exception, being the first LG phone to carry the Audio Tuned by Meridian label. The 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC produces a balanced sound signature that comes extremely close to the quality of an original recording. And Boombox Speaker, originally introduced on the LG G7 ThinQ, doubles the bass of conventional smartphone speakers by utilizing the internal space of the device as a resonance chamber. When
placed on a solid surface or hollow box, the LG V40 ThinQ acts like a woofer to amplify the bass even more.

The clean lines and sophisticated colors emphasizes the three main design elements of the LG V40 ThinQ: smooth touch, unique color and seamless form. With the objective to create a design that will stand the test of time, the simple yet beautiful exterior is the perfect complement to the wealth of innovative technologies found on the LG V40 ThinQ.

LG’s proprietary Silky BlastTM process etches the tempered glass back with microscopic pits to create a smoother matte finish which feels extremely comfortable in the hand without being slippery. In addition to its more premium appearance, the matte glass is more practical due to its higher resistance to fingerprints and stains. The phone will be available in the charming colors of New Aurora Black, New Platinum Gray, New Moroccan Blue and eye-catching Carmine Red.

The LG V40 ThinQ retains the slim and light design heritage of the V series, weighing only 169g and measuring a svelte 7.7mm in thickness. Like its predecessor, the LG V40 ThinQ meets the U.S. Department of Defense requirements for durability, passing 14 MIL-STD 810G Transit Drop Test categories for suitability in military operations and is IP68 rated.

“The LG V40 ThinQ was designed with the main goal to deliver an uncompromised experience for users to create, consume and share high quality content,” said Hwang Jeong-hwan, president of LG Electronics
Mobile Communications Company. “The versatility of the camera and the proven V series platform makes the LG V40 ThinQ a serious option for customers looking for a premium smartphone that does it all.”

Alongside the LG V40 ThinQ, LG announced its first hybrid smartwatch, the LG Watch W7, a wearable device that combines mechanical movement with digital functionalities. As the first LG wearable to run the new Wear OS by Google platform, the LG Watch W7 is designed for consumers who value the look of a traditional analog timepiece but desire the convenient functionalities of a connected smartwatch.

Developed in partnership with Soprod SA of Switzerland, the LG Watch W7 features high-precision quartz movement and physical watch hands wrapped in a stainless-steel body. Combining smart and mechanical features in a single timepiece gives the LG Watch W7 unique powering options. In full
operation mode on a single charge, the LG Watch W7 can run for up to two days and then an additional 3-4 days in analog-only mode. In mechanical watch-only mode with its “smart” features disabled, the watch can operate for up to 100 days, or more than three months before requiring a charge.

In addition to keeping accurate time, the analog hands also display additional information such as altimeter, barometer, stopwatch, timer and compass directions. Because this device runs Wear OS by Google, it can be customized thousands of different ways with unique watch faces and complications available online. What’s more, the watch is compatible with all standard 22mm watch bands.

“Dining With A View” menyajikan resepi air tangan istimewa Chef Jamal dalam suasana makan yang menenangkan.
